Henderson is the second largest city in Nevada. It is part of the Las Vegas metropolitan area and is located at the southeastern end of the Valley.
Henderson has recently been ranked as America’s second safest city by Forbes Magazine. It has also been highly ranked as one of the best places to live. Analysts attribute this to the city’s high median income and amenities that cater to local residents.
Henderson is surrounded by mountains with gentle slopes—more like rolling hills. The McCullough Range is closest to the city and is covered by black rocks from a volcanic explosion millions of years ago.
Master planned residential communities include Anthem, Green Valley, Inspirada, Lake Las Vegas, MacDonald Highlands, MacDonald Ranch, Seven Hills, Tuscany and Whitney Ranch. Active Adult communities include Sun City Anthem, Sun City MacDonald Ranch, Solera at Anthem.
An increasing number of major shopping malls, movie theatre complexes, restaurants, and casino resorts offer Henderson’s residents a variety of choices for leisure time. These points of interest include the Ethel M Chocolate Factory, the Galleria Mall at Sunset, The Green Valley Ranch and Sunset Station Hotel and Casino and the District at Green Valley Ranch.
Henderson was recently listed as the sixth best walking city in America. It has more than 37 miles of pedestrian and riding trails.
